Day 1 – Angel:

An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.  She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21)

Day 2 – Christmas Tree:

All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” – which means, “God with us.”

Matt 1:22-23

Day 3 – Feast

“His mercy extends to those who fear him,| from generation to generation.| He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;| he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.| He has brought down rulers from their thrones| but has lifted up the humble.| He has filled the hungry with good things| but he has sent the rich away empty.| He has helped his servant Israel,| remembering to be merciful| to Abraham and his descendants for ever,| even as he said to our fathers.” (Luke 1:50-55)

Day 4 - Candles

In him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. (John 1:4-5)

Day 5 - Dove

For to us a child is born| to us a son is given,| and the government will be on his shoulders.| And he will be called| Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,| Everlasting Father, Prince of peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Day 6 - St Nicholas

st nicholas

“My soul glorifies the Lord| and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,| for he has been mindful| of the humble state of his servant.| From now on all generations will call me blessed,| for the Mighty One has done great things for me –| holy is his name.” (Luke 1:46-49)

Day 7 -  High Street

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15)

Day 8 - Bible

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:1-3)

Day 9 - Cross

On coming to the house, the wise men saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him.  Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. (Matthew 2:11)

Day 10 - Crown

But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,| are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;| for out of you will come a ruler| who will be the shepherd of my people Israel’ (Matthew 2:6)

Day 11 - Wisemen

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:1-2)

Day 12 -  Christmas Stocking

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth...From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.  For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.  No-one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known. (John 1:14, 16-18)

Day 13 - Choir

Of the increase of his government and peace| there will be no end.| He will reign on David’s throne| and over his kingdom,| establishing and upholding it| with justice and righteousness| from that time on and for ever.| The zeal of the Lord Almighty| will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:7)

Day 14 - Drum

After the Wise men had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.  When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. (Matthew 2:9-10)

Day 15 - Mistletoe

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,| “Glory to God in the highest,| and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests.” (Luke 2:13-14)

Day 16 -  Star

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David.  The virgin’s name was Mary.  The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favoured!  The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:26-28)

Day 17 - Lamb

And there were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Luke 2:8-10)

Day 18 - Inn

“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11-12)

Day 19 - Gifts

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.  Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:11-13)

Day 20 - Advent Travellers

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. (Luke 2:16-18, 20)

Day 21 - Donkey

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him, and was expecting a child. (Luke 2:4-5)

Day 22 - Holly and Ivy

Day 23 - Tree of Light

Day 24 - Nativity

While they were there the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:6-7)
